1st Baltic Sea 100mi Ultramarathon

 

 

Race course: Roja - Lužņa - Roja, Latvia (sea cost)
 

Course distances:

MAIN EVENT - 100 miles (160,9km)

SIDE EVENTS -  50 miles and 26.2 miles (80.5km, 42.2km)

 

Time: July 5-6, 2014

 

We are excited to present the First Baltic Sea 100 miles Ultramarathon. The race course runs along the coastline of the Baltic Sea in Latvia from Roja to Luzna and back. The race promotes ultra running in Latvia. The race course runs on sandy beaches. All rivers can be crossed on foot. The course is easily accessible to all spectators and supporters. We offer race courses of three lengths: Main Event 100mi and two Side events of 50mi and 26.2mi.

Main Event - 30

Side events - 70

 

Time limits:

 

Roja - Luzna - Roja:  100mi/30h time limit
Roja - Kolka – Roja: 50mi/13h time limit

Roja - Melnsils - Roja 26.2mi/7h time limit

 

Start and Finish: (time and place)

 

Saturday

100mi will start at 08:00 in Roja Beach

50mi will start at 20:00 in Roja Beach

Sunday

26.2mi will start at 08:00 in Roja Beach

 

Even that the nights are short at July in Roja (SunCal), head lamp in 100 and 50mi events are required.     

 

All distances finish in Roja.

 

Registration:

 

All participants are requested to register via a bank transfer. Please state your full name, gender (M or W), year of birth, country and distance in the bank transfer details, for example, MARTIN, SMITH, 1977, Latvia, 100 mi. Awarding and Age Groups:

The first three finishers in each race course age, gender group will be awarded separately.  

Athletes will compete for awards in the following groups:

Women:   FM - female master

             FS   -  female senior

Men:        MM - men master

                 MS - men senior

100mi

FM100/MM100 (all women/men born in 1973 and younger)

FS100/MS100 (all women/men born in 1972 and older)

50mi

FM50/MM50 (all women/men born in 1973 and younger)

FS50/MS50 (all women/men born in 1972 and older)

26.2mi

FM26/MM26 (all women/men born in 1973 and younger)

FS26/MS26 (all women/men born in 1972 and older)

 

All athletes register for a respective distance, age, gender, runner group and competes for award in this group. In case there are 5 athletes or less in one group, only the first finisher in the group is awarded.

All athletes will receive finisher’s souvenir.

Age limit

All athletes who have reached 18 years are allowed to participate. In special occasions younger athletes are allowed to participate in 50mi race courses with parents and trainer’s written permission, which has to be submitted to the race organizers before start.

Responsibility

Everyone will participate at own responsibility! All athletes are responsible for their own state of health and physical ability to participate in the race. All athletes will be asked to sign in agreement of this statement at the receipt of their start number.

Medical aid

First aid ambulance will be available during the entire race time. Medical workers are authorized to deny athletes participation in the race based on medical reasons at any time before or during the race. If you see someone in trouble on the course, please try to help and let the organizers know immediately or call 112!

Additional Information

1. Please note that the race course runs on the coast – very near to the water.

2. Participant start numbers must be fastened at the front and should be visible during the entire course.

3. Judges will be present on the course and will control participants’ time and compliance with race rules.

4. Should an athlete is unable to get to the finish line by him/her-self, he/she must contact organizers to arrange transportation to the finish; or he/she must inform other participants, who will pass the message to the closest judge on the course.

5. Water and snacks will be available after each 12-13mi. Participants of 100mi have an option of handing their personal drinks and food to the organizers before the start for placing them on the course.

6. Use of Nordic walking sticks is allowed.
